Introduction

One of the prioritized directions of national policy on tourism development is ecological tourism, because this will attract people’s attention to the issue of preserving ecological sustainability and biological diversity of Mongolia. Mongolia in the most still remains untouched, thanks to the nomadic tradition to live in comfort with their environment.

This tour takes you through chain of national reservations and special protected areas offering you both opportunity to discover Mongolia’s beauty and to get exposed to its ecological policy.

Tour starts in Ulaanbaatar with visiting the Natural History Museum, where you will get brief understanding on Mongolia’s ecological policy and preservation sites. The next day you will start driving toward Mongolia’s biggest natural preservation in the heart of the Gobi. There are number of special protected areas and natural preservations. After Gobi you will drive to the north to the Khangai mountains where you will be exposed to protected area of Orhon River waterfall, Ugii Lake, the unique lake on the northern limits of Great Steppe, and Hustain nuruu National Park where you will witness the Przewalski’s horses. On the way you will be also visiting some historical sites. Tour accommodation is combination of overnights in ger camp and tent camps apart from 2 nights in hotel in Ulaanbaatar. Breakfast and dinner will be provided at overnight camps and lunch will be taken en route. A good experienced cook will accompany you through out of your field journey. On the way we will have camel and horse riding tours as well as hiking ones. Also visits to local nomad households will be available. The journey will be on 4x4 auto allowing the traveller to experience diversity of Mongolian nature and bring you the real idea of necessity to preserve it for the future generations.

         Tour Program
Day 1 - Arrive in Ulaanbaatar

Arrival and accommodation. City tour, including a visit to the Natural History Museum The evening program will be Folk group performance followed by a dinner in one of the best restaurants of Ulaanbaatar.

Accommodation: Hotel.

Day 2 - Middle Gobi

After breakfast in the hotel leave Ulaanbaatar to reach Middle Gobi. On the way to the Gobi visit Baga Gazriin Chuluu and the ruins of Sum Khukh Burd Temple.

Accommodation: Camping

Day 3 - South Gobi

Drive southwards to the South Gobi province through wide open Middle Gobi steppes and vast grassland gradually turning into Gobi scenery. . On the way stop by nomadic household, to experience nomadic way of life. In the evening reach tourist camp near Dalanzadgad city, a capital of South Gobi province.

Accommodation: Comfortable traditional ger dwellings at the Ger camp.

Day 4 - National Park “Yoliin Am”

Drive to the National Park of Yoliin Am. Here you will have the opportunity for hiking in the Ice Valley of Gobi, the stunning landscape. Afternoon drive to Khongoriin els, the largest sand dunes of Mongolia, reaching height of 800m and length 190 km. Hiking tour to the highest dune’s point with fantastic view of Gobi landscape once you will be by the dunes.

Day 5 - Camel riding tour

In the morning camel riding tour. Drive to Bayan zag. It is an area of red cliffs which were formed by the erosion of sand and rock over many thousands of years.

Accommodation: Comfortable traditional ger dwellings at the Ger camp.

Day 6 - Flaming Cliffs

In the morning hiking tour to explore the world famous Flaming Cliffs, the Gobi Dinosaur’s Cemetery discovered by palaeontologist Roy Chapman Andrews. Drive to Ongiin Khiid, the unique 17th century sole monastery at the heart of the desert. Hike around and visit the monastery.

Accommodation: Ger camp.

Day 7 - Orkhon Waterfall

Morning drive to the Orhon river valley. Lunch en route in the area of beautiful network of small mountain rivers that offer excellent pastureland for the herds of horses and yaks. The next stop will be on the Orkhon river waterfall.. In the evening set up tent camp not far from the waterfall.

Day 8 - Horse riding tour

Morning hiking tour around the waterfall, along the gorges and up to the surrounding mountains. In the afternoon horse riding tour. You’ll sleep second night by the lake.

Day 9 - Kharkhorin

Drive to Kharkhorin , the site of the 13th century Mongolian Empire’s capital, founded by Chinggis Khan.Visit to the ruins and Erdene Zuu Monastery, the biggest monastery of 16th century surrounded by 400mX400m walls build from the ruins of ancient capital city. Camping site will be set up upon beautiful mountain river near Kharkorin.

Day 10 - Tsenher hot springs

In the morning hit the road toward Tsenher hot springs. On the site hiking, horse riding and in the evening relaxation in a hot spa and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of these famous springs.

Accommodation: Ger camp.

Day 11 - Ugii nuur

Morning head to the Ugii Lake which is famous for its resident and migrant birds. . Here you will have ample of time for walking, swimming in lake and fishing.

Day 12 - Hustai National Park& Resort

Morning drive to the National Park of Hustai. You can do hiking and horse riding in the unique landscape of the park which features mountain steppe, sand dunes and river wetlands. Today you will stay in a traditional ger dwellings at the Ger camp.

Day 13 - Przewalski’s horses

Early in the morning walking tour to watch the Przewalski’s horses, the only species of wild horse which was discovered at the end of the 19th century. Drive back to Ulaanbaatar and visit the National History Museum. There you will see artefacts from Mongolia and Central Asia from the Stone Age to the present, and displays of the development of Mongolian arts and culture.

Accommodation: hotel.

Day 14 - Depart

After your breakfast you will be transferred to the airport.
